Megabucks drawing. Still looking for some games you can play with your group while social distancing? This week we played Bingo, and it’s fairly simple.
You can do this many different ways. However it is easiest to use Zoom or Facebook live as long as you can share your screen.Step 1 – Bingo Cards
You can even host a virtual game night and play fan-favorite Jackbox games on teleconferencing platforms like Zoom. Here’s how to play Jackbox on Zoom to have some at-home fun. Bingo It is very easy to play Bingo while you’re on a Zoom call with your friends. You can either go to My Free Bingo Cards here if you are looking to play a traditional Bingo game, or you can go for any other custom Bingo game which can be easily found online. Through April 11, 2020, Jackbox Games is offering Drawful 2 is.Option 1: Printed or Online Cards
The first step was to find Bingo cards for everyone. MyFreeBingoCards.com makes this easy and free for up to 30 players. Click on the link that says 30 cards for free.
Once you do you’ll be given the option to download the cards in pdf. Instead, you can get an individual link for each card that can be texted or emailed.
The online cards actually allow you to play virtually and mark them as you play using your phone, tablet or computer.
Email or text the cards out to everyone playing. I would suggest doing this earlier in the day or the day before so that you can startOption 2: Make Your OwnPlay Bingo Via Zoom
With a small group it might be easy to have everyone make their own cards. Post some instructions ahead of time on what the letters and numbers should be. It needs to be a 5×5 grid with Bingo in letters across the top. Then they choose 5 numbers under each letter from the following choices B 1-15, I 16-30, N 31-45, G 46-60, O 61-75. Bingo Calling
Some of you may have a bingo set at your house. However, for the rest of us I found a great option. Go to letsplaybingo.io. This is a simple and absolutely free bingo caller program that automatically calls and displays called numbers. Everyone seeing the screen can hear and see each ball called.
Other options could include using a bingo cage you have at the church or at home. Or you could make slips of paper with the numbers on them and call out that way. Video Set Up
Here is where you have a few options.Option 1 – Cell Phone Video
The first option is to set your phone in front of your computer screen and broadcast to instagram live or Facebook live. Those who get a bingo could text you.Option 2 – Zoom
A second option would be to use the screen share function of Zoom to share the bingo caller window with everyone. In addition, make sure and share the audio as well. Option 3 – Zoom and Facebook Live
Finally you can use the screen share function of Zoom to then share on Facebook live. This is what the guys at stuffyoucanuse do with their trivia games.
It’s a little more intricate set up but it will allow many people to follow along. And you won’t have to worry about zoom invitations and so many people in one call.
I hope that this is helpful as we continue to all look for ways to engage our youth and church during the coronavirus lockdown. For more coronavirus resources please check out our Covid-19 Resource PageRelated posts:
The work-at-home genie is out of the bottle, and we’re never going fully back to the office. So here’s a Conference Call Bingo game for you to weed out the new era bullshit.
Thanks to @inagfatt for this gem, and I’ll start by making a special rule.
If you hear the phrase shown bottom left, you win conference call bingo automatically.
“Hey guys sorry I have to hop off, you guys keep talking” should be everyone’s career credo.
I need to focus on what really matters, and this recurring meeting probably isn’t it.
That’s how Zoom rose above the conference call bingo game.
Zoom was born out of WebEx, which was founded in 1995 and acquired by Cisco for $3.2 billion in 2007.
Early WebEx engineer Eric Yuan founded Zoom in 2011 with help from early investment and advice from WebEx founder Subrah Iyar. Here’s how it played out:
– Zoom went live January 2013.
– Had 1 million users by May 2013 and 10 million by June 2014.
– Zoom raised $161 million over 7 rounds
– Went public April 2019 at a $9.2 billion IPO valuation.
– Zoom’s valuation jumped to $35 billion when pandemic lockdowns began in March 2020Virtual Bingo Via Zoom
– Zoom is now worth $118 billion.
Not bad for 10 years’ work.
And no question Zoom saved us in this era.
Zoom is genius really. It took something we all hate, and polished it up.
That’s the definition of tech disruption.
So we can rip Zoom all we want. And I’ll rip away for 2 reasons: (1) I hate conference calls almost as much as email, and (2) call culture worsens as micromanagers perfect Zoom meddling.
But conference call bullshit bingo and other jokes aside, Zoom is genius for 3 reasons: Bingo bash home.1. Prove Remote Work Really Works:
Zoom made video calls and realtime back-and-forth screen sharing truly great. Zoom validates remote work by letting us prove we can be engaged even if we’re not sitting next to our teams. One silver lining of forced quarantines is proving once and for all that remote work really works.2. Build Your Kid’s Youtube Dream:
My son wanted to start a Youtube channel last year, but only do it from an iPad and with screencast and audio. Until iOS upgraded screen record functionality, Zoom was the solution. And it still is because it’s easy and brought me a ton of joy supporting my son.3. Bail On 1 Call Per Month:
Zoom is a giant success story about reinventing an utter commodity. They did this by stepping away from existing structure and looking at it fresh. And most jobs are a commodity. Unless you have the courage to step away periodically for a fresh look at reinventing yourself and your role.
So make it a habit to say that lower-left bingo card phrase on a call at least once a month, then bounce.
Too many daily routines are bullshit anyway, so use this tactic to focus on what matters to win your long game.
